Abstract
This ethnographic study examines children's intricate interactions with digital technologies through immersive observation. It explores parental strategies for navigating digital environments and analyzes digital media's impacts on children's development across physical, mental, social, and linguistic domains.
Through a visual anthropological lens, this research highlights emerging phenomena such as screen dependency and digital enculturation, offering a nuanced understanding of the narratives and cultural shifts that define contemporary childhood.
Methodology
This research applies documentary practices to ethnographic inquiry, using observational and visual documentation techniques to capture authentic moments of digital engagement. The methodology emphasized long-term immersion, minimal intervention to preserve the integrity of children's natural interactions with technology, and participatory methods where children acted as co-creators in the research and documentation process. Fieldwork, including participant observation and in-depth interviews with families in naturalistic settings, was conducted from November 2021 until January 2022.
The study focuses on several interconnected themes that emerged from the ethnographic fieldwork:
Digital Interactions   Parental Strategies   Screen Dependency   Developmental Impacts   Visual Documentation
